Heavy Duty Maillon

These maillons are not cheap, but these are not the maillons you'll find at the hardware store. They are surprisingly heavy. I have no fear of these breaking in the event of a reserve deployment. The inside diameter of the bottom is 30 mm for the flat part and 40 mm if you include the curves, perfect for the SupAir EVO harness. The inside diameter of the top is 25 mm which is plenty wide for any reserve bridal which is typically 7 mm. In order to hold the reserve bridal at the top of the maillon, I cut bands out of an inner tube from a kid's bicycle, I put the rubber band on the maillon and twisted the band, I put the bridal through the band and then on to the maillon, I twisted the rubber band again and then put the end of the band on the maillon. Scout paramotor shows how to do this at 4:20 of their YouTube video 'How to install the steerable reserve parachute', though they use an o-ring which looks nicer.
